PYRAMIDS (1988 Helios Software) PYRAMIDS is an ASCII Text game based on "Stratego". Play is between you and the computer (named "Cheops"). PYRAMIDS actually plays much better than Stratego, due to some of the special moves allowed by some of the game pieces (such as the ability to cross the large "desert" squares that divide the playfield), and the ability to "jump" between the 3 center corridor squares. Challenges can be further increased by increasing the computers AI, increasing the distance pieces can travel in their move, or even changing the ratio of playing pieces (via SETUP). NOTE: This game is abandoned shareware, as the address listed for registration is no longer valid. Although the documentation suggests the shareware is hobbled to fifty moves, it is extremely difficult to reach this limit (I have yet to do so), and so I can not confirm this limitation. Personally, even if true, I just treat it as a strategy rule for defining when a game is considered a "draw" (much like in chess).
