You CAN build flat rides and shops undergound in RCT2 and VERY easily. Just select the one you want, hold shift down abd move the mouse down. Good thing this was in the RCT2 manual - oh wait.... I t wasn't - I got it from the RCT Station forums.....

===================================

Unfortunately this doesn't work for whole prebuilt coasters, but it does for the starting track platform piece (no need to start at ground level - go down start a new platform - erase the tail - put the ground back - etc). Additionally, this DOES work for scenery too - now instead of having just a track underground for the Ghost train - you can actually have scenery there to spook the guests instead of just having to imagine it.

===================================

That's really interesting. It begs 2 questions.
Do peeps now litter/vomit underground? They do not in RCT1.
Like the coasters, are fries/burgers/soda etc. more exciting when they are underground?

===================================

some scenery item you can place directly in the stations. I located the pirate ship directly ontop of the station to my canoes and it looks as though the canoes load inside of the pirate ship! fun!

Has anyone built any flat rides underground? I did, and was totally shocked when no-one would ride them in the rain. helloooo it's underground, you can't get wet. What's up with that? Is it a bug?

===================================

I guess it's a bug if they were thinking

QUOTE
I'm not going on <underground ride> when it's raining.

Were they thinking that?

To start your coaster underground, move the mouse while its showing the first station piece ABOVE the square where you want to start. Before clicking, hold down the <SHIFT> key and move the mouse downwards.

This takes you underground. You can use the same trick to start building high above ground too by holding <SHIFT> and moving the mouse upwards.

Whole, flat gentle and thrill rides can be placed underground like this. Shops/stalls too.

Yes, that's exactly what they "thought." Like one time, I built a Twist underground. When it rained, they all thought "I'm not going on Twist when it's raining." I was like WHAT!?!?!? I couldn't believe it. When it wasn't raining, the ride was packed.

You try to put a sign on an underground footpath and you get a ghost image if there is a footpath above. The only way you can remove the ghost image is the remove the footpath underneath it. If you save the landscape, the "ghost sign" saves right along with it.

I dont know if anyone has already discovered this...but thought I would point it out...the doors/gate can be placed on flat track of the following coasters that ive tested anyway: junior, wooden wild mine, wooden wild mouse, and wild mouse

=====================

The new RCT2 feature of allowing crash(bang)-doors on regular wooden roller coasters is a boon for those wanting to make real-world coaster recreations. The wooden SBNO "RollerCoaster @ Chippeawa Lake Park" used crash-doors on the entrance to the tunnel between the station and the lift hill (in order to make the tunnel darker and thus more thrilling).

What I do for watering flowers is i make a path underground under the flowers, put a couple handymen down there, seal off the entrance and they will water the flowers from down there. And no one will see them
