Railroad Tycoon II is a 2D railroad simulation that covers the 
history of railroads from the late 1700s to the 2000s. The 
player assumes the role of the chairman in a railroad company, 
trying to make profits for the investors (often but not 
necessarily including the player themself) and completing various 
other objectives while being hindered by rival companies, train 
breakdowns and train robbers. A 3D version was later released, 
but like the 3D version of RollerCoaster Tycoon, the graphics 
were "blocky", and construction was extremely difficult.  

Railroad Tycoon II Platinum is the ultimate edition of Railroad 
Tycoon II, it contains the original game, the Second Century 
expansion, the additional levels from the Gold edition, fifty new 
scenarios, an electronic copy of the official strategy guide and 
(most importantly) over 2 hours of new music. 

Most of the gameplay consists of building tracks, stations and 
trains, which are used for hauling goods from one station to 
another. Money received from hauling is determined by the distance 
between the two stations, the demand and value of the delivered 
goods, station improvements and the difficulty level.  

The more important part of the game play is financial management 
of companies, including issue bonds, share repurchases, stock 
issues, manipulating dividends, merge other company and declare 
bankruptcy. These features can be very useful in some scenarios 
and could destroy the opponent or make great deal of money for the 
player himself under the master's hands.

Managing the players' own wealth is also an important part of the 
game play. The player can buy or sell any companies' stocks when he 
figures the stock prices are too low or too high. The broker may 
allow the player to buy on margin or short sell stocks if he has 
enough value of stocks or cash to rely on. The computer players, as 
the player's opponents, can also do these. They may bankrupt the 
player when he is heavily debt.

The game also simulate a real world economy environment. The economy 
may fluctuate during the game play. There are 5 levels of economy: 
Booming, Prosperity, Normal, Recession and Depression. When the 
economy is good, the revenue of the hauled goods and the stock prices 
will be higher. However, along with the goods and the stock prices 
surging, the railroad companies will have to pay more to build tracks 
when the economy is booming. The interest rate will also be adjusted 
with the economy level, including the interest received from cash and 
the interest paid for the bonds. The better the economy is, the lower 
the interest rate is.

A fix (currently version 1.56) was created to correct Railroad Tycoon II - 
Platinum Edition.  Included in the fix ZIP file is a text file listing the 
fix history, and a dat file to replace the games "High Score" dat file.

(ver 1.0.0.1).


Info	: Install The Game.
              
	: Copy all the files from the CDs "anim" directory, to
          the installed "anim" directory on the hard drive.  

	: Install the corrective fix (ver 1.56). 

	: Replace "RT2_PLAT.exe" with this No-CD patched version.
